National Museum of the American Indian

By chance we walked past the National Museum of the American Indian, which was free entry.

It has exhibitions on by current artists of Native American descent and also a huge collection of artefacts from all the different American Indian tribes from the Innuit peoples of Greenland to the Incas of South America.

I really liked the costumes, particularly the pink shirted one as it reminded me of my good friend Ryan McDowell's dress sense when he graces Aberdeen on a nightout!

Charging Bull

The beginning of the afternoon was spent locating the Charging Bull, a sculpture on Wall St.

It is good luck to touch its nose!

Trinity Church

After seeing Brooklyn Bridge we walked into the financial district.

We went into the Trinity Chuch which is situated amongst some of the tallest and most expensive buildings in Manhattan. It was the first Anglican Church in New York and Alexander Hamilton (whos face appears on the $10 bill) is buried here.

Good place to sit and relax after morning of walking around!

Brooklyn Bridge

Our first look at Brooklyn

Walk around tuesday morning!

On tuesday morning we set out for a big day of walking.

Starting in Chinatown for a early lunch we walked on towards brooklyn bridge and the harbour. On the way we saw a church called St. Andrews with an statue of St. Andrew with his turned cross which inspired Scotland's national flag- the saltire.

We then walked passed an interesting Vietnam memorial (photos to follow at later date).

We then made our way towards the financial district...

Yellow cab ride #1

We have had alot of walking around over last couple of days so thought we would treat ourselves to cab ride. Drove past the amazing building Grand Central Station - internal images to follow.

Scottish bar!

Just off Times Sq where Rorys friend Sarah works, met her there last night and she showed us a good nightout in East Village!

Breakfast!

Wheat bagel packed with tuna mayo, salad and avocado! Tasted amazing..

Also watched the Stoke City match followed by Scotland vs Ireland rugby match online which kicked off at 9am here.

United Nations Building

Outside UN building (by a team of architects; including Le Corbusier and Oscar Neymeyer).

Also featured in one of my favourite films Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest.

Best flight to date

Great flight with free food and booze and a whole cabin to ourselves!

Arrived in New York City!

Arrived in NYC with my good friend Rory! Looking forward to the next 6 months!

Had about 12 gin and tonics on what was the best flight I have been on. Booked into hostel on East 34th Street 3rd Avenue and went out for a few jars at one of the local bars...free Jamiesons whiskey from one great barmaid!
